West Bottoms Warehouse District Focus Area
Also referred to as 'the core', this area was identified by analyzing traffic patterns, zoning, significant businesses, and connections points. The core includes a series of streets in addition to Somera Road's redevelopment site. The urban fabric of this area spans the West Bottoms, connecting KCK and KCMO under both I-70 and I-670. Within the core, there are five proposed public spaces that showcase visual connections, texture, and the experience of the West Bottoms. The core public space proposal seeks to bring people back into the West Bottoms during public events, as well as improve the quality of life for its current residents day to day.
